Introduction

Did you know your 2 post lift, or any other garage equipment you use may not be legal or safe to use in the U.K even if you buy it new today?

Many businesses are unaware of the insurance implications of not having adequate training for their employees and the need to keep effective equipment logs. Failure to do this can result in your insurance company refusing to pay out in the unfortunate event of an accident. As an example, a vehicle lift or ramp, although a simple piece of equipment to operate, could be lethal if not used safely and maintained correctly.

Training is key. Employers need to invest in it.

If one of your employees were to have an accident, you as employer would need to prove to your insurance company, and in some cases the courts that your employees were trained in the safe use of the equipment or tools they were handling.

The law imposes a responsibility on the employer to ensure safety at work for all their employees.Much of the law regarding safety in the work place can be found in the Health & Safety At Work Act 1974.Employers have to take reasonable steps to ensure the health, safety and welfare of their employees at work. Failure to do so could result in a criminal prosecution in the Magistrates Court or a Crown Court .Failure to ensure safe working practices could also lead to an employee suing for personal injury or in some cases the employer being prosecuted for corporate manslaughter.

We offer certified training. It's too late after the accident has taken place.

About Us

We are a sister company of Jessacko Garage equipment During our years on the road working across the UK we found that there are many unsafe and illegal lifts in use. After discussions with some of our clients it became clear that there is a need for training. We subsequently designed our training courses to be practical and meet the legal duty to protect the health and safety of your employees.

Following our discussions with the HSE we are now in a position to offer the required training.

HSE to get tough on garage safety

WORKSHOPS face tougher health and safety inspections after statistics highlighted the dangers of working in the motor repair industry.

The Health & Safety Executive has found that working in vehicle repairs is now as hazardous, in terms of accident frequency, as the traditionally unsafe agricultural industry.

With the HSE stepping up its recruitment of inspectors, workshops should expect more frequent inspections, according to the Retail Motor Industry Federation.
